Copious Readers, we hate this commercial.
Let the trashing begin.

I hate it too ….. I’m speechless!! I can’t believe what I saw!
I don’t have a problem with it. Clearly the single women who represent dirt have some cool clothes and snippier personalities then the housefrau who is cleaning the already-clean house with the Swiffer thing. I’d rather be the single gal attracted to the Pick-Up Artist wet-jet and going interesting places then spend my afternoons mopping a floor. If Swiffer wanted to insult single women and glorify home-cleaners then the ad backfires.
I’m not sure the commercial is necessarily equating single women with dirt…but it does seem to be playing into the “you’re only interested in dating” stereotype, with friendship as a kind of sad consolation prize.
I think there is one with dudes in it too. Not that that helps much.
there’s one with a male piece of dust too. He’s stuck in the keyboard and spends too many nights alone at the “spacebar.”
