Single women only earn 56 cents to every dollar a married man makes!
Newsweek‘s and Time‘s coverage of the Sarah Palin VP campaign contains singlist rhetoric disparaging both childfree single women and single moms! (Even though single women form a key voting demographic that could sway the election.)
Bella DePaulo, a social psychologist specializing in singlism (and conveniently for us, also an expert on the social psychology of deceiving and detecting deceit) writes a restrained yet scathing post about these topics here on the Huffington Post. Check it out! And then—GO VOTE!

PS. Australians, go vote in Australia and be happy that Palin’s not on the docket. = )
Yes! The more voting reminders the better – thank you for helping make the very important connection between being single and needing to vote. Other numbers that might spur readers to action: Almost HALF of singles who were eligible to vote in 2004 did NOT vote. In fact, over a THIRD of them didn’t even register to vote. We are the game-changing factor in any election, IF we get in the game. Folks can register to vote online AND make it a statement about singlism in one easy motion, here: http://www.unmarried.org/voting.html
