Although some people’s first instinct is to think that people who don’t want kids are selfish, many people actually *have* kids for selfish reasons:

–to improve their relationship with their spouse or partner

–to leave behind a legacy, copies of their genes

–to have someone to take care of them in their old age

–to relive missed opportunities from their own youth

–to fit in, because everyone else is doing it (more…)

For me personally, having previously been in a six-year relationship that took up most of my 20s, I couldn’t have imagined that I would be this happy being single agin. I think that my past (long-term, committed, and happy) relationship is fundamental to me being – and preferring to be – Onely today.

But none of this has seems to have anything to do with bad dates just yet, does it? (more…)

Being Onely means that I can indulge my habits that give me great pleasure but distress a large chunk of the population. I like to climb in the car on a summer’s afternoon and not turn on the airconditioner. I drive along with windows closed, breathing the glass-cooked air.  The sweat droplets well up under the bottom rims of my sunglasses. (more…)
